BERLIN TOWNSHIP

BOARD MEETING SYNOPSIS

May 12, 2008

 

Meeting called to order at 7:30pm by Supervisor, Koleen McVeigh.  Pledge of Allegiance recited.  Members present: Parks, Klos, McVeigh, Christian, & Wittstock.  April meeting minutes approved.  Treasurer’s report approved. Planning Commission report given by Trustee Wittstock: Burt Road tower company approved to add six antennas to tower as well as put a stronger pad underneath, Karl Heim was in to give progress report on Fox Ridge/North Avenue apartments, and an audience member talked about a preliminary split.    Fire Chief, Brian Phillips gave the Fire report: they responded to runs 41-49 last month, they need daytime personnel, new truck and cap will arrive soon, received 5 new radios, and are looking into a grant for a pole barn for storage.  Senior Director, Becky Higbie gave the senior report: cards & potluck discussed; upcoming events include: bingo (5/20), senior breakfast (6/12), and potluck (6/24).   Senior activity fliers available at CSB Bank and township hall, and spring cleaning and painting will be done.  Supervisor McVeigh read the Park report: perennial plant exchange 5/28 (6pm), and tie-dye day 6/25 (10-11:30am) – bring a garment and a take-home bag.  High speed internet discussed.  Phase I of Berville sewer project discussed.  Ditching at Berville/Tubspring discussed.  Paul Machinski (running for Sheriff) present to take questions/comments. Board member questions and comments: Adopt-a-Road program (info will be on website), cemetery flagpoles, investment of township monies in new CD, assessor changed from W-2 to 1099 employee, and applicants for Senior Director will be interviewed.    Audience questions and comments: waiting for written judgement on Pytleski case.   Motion to pay the bills made and accepted.  Motion to adjourn 9:10pm.  A complete copy of the minutes is available at the township hall during business hours.
